Zalman GPU cooler

I've got a VF-700 CU and I want to install it (like, right now) BUT I bought it 3rd party and the passive heatsinks are gone. So with that being said, I have a new set coming... (Got them cheap) but would it affect the GPU if I put just the fan on right now and leave the HS's off until I get them? My sig has the card in it, but the temps are higher than H3ll! Idle is like 51C and I obviously I want to drop it... Opinion anyone?

Edit: It appears that after some more research... The Zalman VF700 might not line up with the bracket setup on the card... Either I try and modify it, risking the card, or wait until June when Arctic Cooling is coming out with a solution... But I'm still open for suggestions and/or solutions.

Im looking at my ZF-700 and my 7800GS and idk if you could fit that. Whats wrong w/ your stock cooling? Id figure it would be better.

51 idle is not that bad, it is actually pretty normal. get worried when temps hit in the 90's

Stock cooling is ok... but under load the temps are in the mid 80's. I just have this 700 that I want to use. But I guess I'll just use it on my 6800GT...
