I was just wondering how an intel P4 with a cedar mill core, highly overclocked like the guys on xtremesystems got them up to 6ghz, would stand up to and AMD 3700+.

any ideas?

well i didnt want to pick anything to high but what about how it matches up to these.

1. AMD athlon X2 3800+
2. Athlon X2 4400+
3. Athlon FX 53-60
4. and finally an opteron 165

^you dont have to answer to all of there

ok well i dont think an AMD can go to 6GHZ, but performance wise i think the FXs should be able to match or beat it. and i think the 4800 ( not on ur list ) can come close to matching it no?

You'd need a CPU which gets over 6000+ P-Rating in Centrail Brain Identifier before you can consider it close. You can't simply speculate.

A 4800+ would only be at.....you guessed it, 4800........you'd still have to overclock that a bit to get it up there, so probably somewhere in the low 3GHz range a good AMD could beat it / match it

my OC x2 4800+ @ 2.8GHz got P-rating of around 5500. so i guess if its at 3Ghz range, itll be at P-rating of 6000+.
