XP 2700+, or is it?

going back to my heat problem, which i sorted out in the bios. I changed one of the settings, maybe frequency or something from 166mhz down to the minimum 100mhz, now whenever i go into anything it says i have an amd athlon XP 1500 mmx processor, is 166mhz the normal setting or has the guy we bought it from overclocked it and bagged some extra cash

personally i would read the Ordering Part Number (OPN) printed on the CPU itself and match it to AMD's processor recognition chart found here: http://www.amd.com/gb-uk/assets/content_type/DownloadableAssets/Processor_Recognition_Rev05_ENG.pdf

disconnect power cord and hold the case with 1 hand while you take off the heatsink to ground yourself. re-apply thermal paste before putting back heatsink.

No, 166 Mhz is the normal setting.
