I got a Phenom 9500 for free a while ago because my dad's friend works at AMD.
I've finally decided to put it to use. So, I built this system:
-Phenom 9500 X4 Quad-Core
-Zalman CNPS9500A 92mm CPU Fan
-G.Skill 2GB DDR2 800 PC6400 RAM
-Gigabyte MA78GPM Motherboard with 780G North Bridge
-temporarily running integrated HD3200 graphics
The Phenom 9500 is stock 2.2GHz, so I decided to overclock it to 2.3GHz.
Then, I got this:
A very stable temperature while performing daily tasks with my Zalman.
Then, I decided to run a CPU Stress test at 2.3, and I got this:
What in the world happened?! Why did it get so hot all the sudden? 68C seems pretty unacceptable to me.
I've tried multiple CPU Stress Test programs, and they all have the same result. When I dock SpeedFan, it shows me the Temp1 in the corner of my desktop. Temp3 is always the one that's blazing hot.
So basically, I have three questions:
-Which one is my CPU temp? (Temp1, Temp2, Temp3, Core?)
-What the heck happened?! Why is my Phenom so freaking hot?
-Why is Temp3 always so hot, and what is Temp3?
