Default What Custom Comps have you built and Why!

Thanks all for the help. This is my first self built comp. Basically everything i have learned about comps have been over these past four days, i just hope this comp will be what i hope it will be. I am looking for good amount of upgradability for the future. I will use this comp for... CD/DVD/MP3 Storing and Burning (about 1000 CD's, 3000 MP3's and allot of DVD's). I will also do some gaming i am not big in gaming/overclocking but i would still like to be able to play a game our two every so often, and have it run well.

Any Tips, or If i had 1,244.00 This is what i would do... please do so.

that is a good computer for 1300.

the only thing is that i would recommend intel p4 instead of amd for burning and cd storing. AMD is good for gaming but p4 is good for programming.

that case looks awesome.

acutualy, a beter hard drive and a beter burner helps with those aplications more than a cpu, but a cpu has some part in it, video edditing is good for the p4 and like geo said the amd for gaming, but it realy comes down to how much performance you can aford. if you were to have the money the extreeme edition does it all lol. anyways that's a cool comp.

Thanks guys for the advice. I like my AMD procc. because of money = speed is a good deal to me. plus i think the socket will be a good socket for awhile to come. plus cheap (now that their moving on to the new socket)

Which means i can upgrade. plus i would like the ability to have a good comp for gaming if i wanted it, rather than a good comp to move documents around . AMD my not be as good for multi-tasking buisness stuff, but i dont care.

If i were going to spend like $4,000 bucks i would wait for a little bit and get the FX when its a little older (so the bugs are worked out more) and jack that thing up like no one has ever seen! I get the feeling that the FX has more of a future then does the P4 Extreme. thats just me though.

CAS3 ram=no no

get at least 2.5, CAS has a significant impact on memory performance

yea earlier in the summer i changed my ram timings from like 2-3-3-7 to 2-2-2-5, and my benchmarks on 3d03 went up like 500 points... so I found it to be a great impact on computer performance.
