water pump head pressure?

Isn't the amount of "head" that a pump has the amount of vertical feet in can push water before it levels out?

but I am not sure how much water... how thick the "verticle pipe" is, etc.
 
yes, that it is.

it is actually used for estimating how much pressure drop the pump can handle as it pushes the fluid thru your loop. each water block/inline sink/fitting has a pressure drop associated with it. the more resistance there is to fluid flow, the greater the pressure drop. 90* turns, lenths of tubing, and diameter constrictions also contribute to the total pressure drop.
