Default Video card options

I was shopping around on newegg looking for a new video card for myself and i stumbled upon a few video cards that were very cheap. I was looking for a 9800PRO that i could flash to xt. I wanted to know if there is a difference in perfomance or graphic quality if the card has 256bits than 128bits. Ive heard that since only a few games these days use 256bits that its not worth it to get it. I would also like for you peoples on the forum to direct me to a good and cheap 9800Pro if possible. thanks

In the 256 version, they changed the architechture so that they could increase the memory, so the card actually doesnt perform as well as the 128 one.
My current specs:
i7 920
Biostar TPower x58
3x2GB g.skill
XFI GTX260 Black Edition
640 WD Caviar Black
Vista Home Premium x64
