Is the 6600GT better in performance than the 9800XT?

How much is the 6600GT, and the 6800GT?

My local computer shop said they can give me a 9800XT for around 280$.

the 6600GT will cost you around 2$$ and the 6800GT will cost you about 4$$. the teens are hard to predict w/ the season and brand change.

thats too much even for a 256MB version IMO. the 9800XT is pretty much an old card now, it's the very bottom of the bin when comparing benchmarks in games like DOOM3 and such. the 6600GT will score better, even with 128MB/128-bit.

well..."better" is pretty general.

it's 256-bit, can be up to 256MB, same memory speed and chips i believe as 6600GT, core is different but faster (clocked lower but like AMD vs. Intel it performs better even clocked lower), comes with DX9.0c (6600GT not "c" version), OpenGL 2.0 stead of 1.5 in the 6600GT....generally i think it can overclock pretty good. pretty big price difference i think...

they do make 6600GT's AGP, but they are selling pretty fast. I'm not sure about the 6800 series. You'd have to go and check them out for availability.

If you live in the US you can go to newegg and they have diff brands of 6600GT's on AGP. sorry though cause the eVGA vcersion is pci express.

yah i'm planning on just getting a pci-e board and getting the eVGA. I dont think AGP will last much longer even if it does prove to be a bit faster than PCI-E/X versions.

wouldnt that mean you would be a traitor to AMD or are you gonna wait for AMD PCI-E boards.
