Default Upgrading mobo, processor

My mobo fried the agp slot and took the card with it so im buying new parts for it. I just wanted to know what you guys think of my choices. Or point me to a better/equal part for same or lower price.

-Foxconn NF4K8AB-RS Socket 754 NVIDIA nForce4 ATX AMD Motherboard
-AMD Athlon 64 3000+ Newcastle Integrated into Chip FSB 512KB L2 Cache Socket 754 Processor
-POWERCOLOR R41AB-ND3 Radeon X700 256MB 128-bit DDR PCI-Express x16 Video Card
-CORSAIR ValueSelect 1GB 184-Pin DDR SDRAM Unbuffered DDR 400 (PC 3200) System Memory

Just 1 fan to put in the front since I already have a couple in the back.
-ASPIRE CF4S-UGN 80mm Cooling Fan
Gotta have the round cables
-Unincom ROUND, True ATA133/100/66/33, ( RED ) IDE Cable. 3-Head. 18 Inches Model IDE-18RED
And a new mouse
-BELKIN F8E850-OPT 2-Tone 3 Buttons 1x Wheel USB + PS/2 Optical Mouse

All that with my current DVD-ROM, Cd burner, hard drive, and 420w PSU.

You should get a socket 939. No 754, it's dead. Get a 3000+ venice, also an x800xl or 6600gt/6800gt when prices drop.

The Epox nforce 3 250GB is a pretty good socket 754 board. You don't need pci-e right now, so 754 is a pretty good choice. Your processor is fine too. Get 6600GT AGP btw. A socket 754 based computer can last you 3-4 years, and when thats done, you can buy a new comp. Technology is always changing, so you don't know when your so called futureproof setup isn't so futureproof anymore.

Also, if your into overclocking, you can run the ram divider to 3:2 on a 2800 sempron and get decent results. It will save you 70 dollars, and you can get a 6800GT AGP with the money instead of a 6600GT. If you don't want to overclock, forget what I just said.

I don't know about overclocking, how would I do that?

How about this mobo along with a 6600GT?

If you want, you can get that. But think to yourself, will you be willing to spend XXX amount of dollars on a dual core in the future. And how many people will tell you just to save up for a new computer instead instead of buying a dual core for an outdated platform?

Heres my plan

buy all the things in the first post, except the video card will be a 6600GT AGP, and the mobo will be the one that supports both 754 and 939. The processor I will keep, and in the future when I have money I will buy a 939 processor.

sound good?
