Default Unlocking GPU

I just bought a EVGA 6800 agp graphics card and am wondering if unlocking the remaining 4 pipeline will do any harm? i just burnt out a 6800le and am scared to try it again.

And if the extra pipelines cause to many artifacts, try just unlocking the extra shader for a minimal improvement (says this somewhere in the above link).
