Default unaccurate mobo temp sensors?

Over at XS I have read that just about all the temp sensors in motherboards are way off. Id this true? It is in one of maxx's w/c guides. He claimes that you should never trust the onbaord sensor.

Sometimes they are inaccurate but most of the time they are good.

Its true that you can't fully trust but you'll most likely notice if its off.

yes, they generally are inaccurate but they are fairly precise. in other words they do report temperatures well however the actual reading is incorrect. you can use the sensors as a guideline though.

I find it kind of odd that this problem hasn't been really addressed. Especially considering heat can be one of the most important factors in your PC.
