Okay, a follow-up question: Why would anyone NEED to overclock or run CPU's in SLI? From what I read the nVidia GeForce 8800 Ultra for instance can run virtually any game on the highest res. settings. So, why would you need to overclock it or SLI any high end GPU? Thanks for the patience.

Because what you read is not true. That card, and indeed most cards, can't run current games at the highest settings stock. SLI will give it a noticeable boost in performance, although at a great expense; while overclocking is completely free but usually boosts performance only a little in cases of GPU's.

Overclocking CPU's is a great way to increase performance drastically, in comparison to overclocking GPU's which doesn't do quite as much in way of performance boosts.

well you're probably reading some old reviews (being as its the GeForce 8 series), so back then, yeah it probably could play most games on max... but now, with games like Crysis or STALKER:CS you'll need SLI to get them running well at max settings.

Sapper is right... CPU OCing is great for increasing performance (not so much in games tho) because you can do OCs of up to about 50% without any elaborate cooling setups, but with GPUs, you'll only really get maybe 25% extra on the clocks without some sick cooling... even tho you only get a bit of an OC on your GPU, this could be all you need to get. say, an extra 5fps on your games, which could be the difference between being playable and not
