Can anyone tell me what the max temperature for an Athlon 64 3000+ socket 939 is?

depends what core:

Winchester - Max 70c
Clawhammer 4000+ - 85c
Clawhammer Fx 55, Fx 57 - 70c
Newcastle 3400+ - 70c
Newcastle 3500+ - 3800+ - 85c
Sledgehammer fx 51,53 - 85c

by the way, those are the ABSOLUTE maximum temps for those CPU's, if i were you, id keep it under 60c if you can.

Your 3000+ is 90nm 939 Winchester, Max is 70c so try keep it under 60c.
