Default temp?

ok well i got a problem. I just got my new PSU today and i installed it. After that, my CPU temp went up to 157 and it just turned off. Do u think my CPU went bad? Will they replace it for free? i have a 2.66 GHZ. No HT.

i got it from a place online. I forgot where though. It did not come in a retail box.

It was also running very very hot like average when idle was about 96 degrees. farenhight

well if u dont know where u got it (u forgot)...and it didnt come in a retail box wher do u plan to return it ?

well i would think that intel would replace it? But i guess that is only with the retail box?

did u say 96 F? thats nothing.. dont worry about it running at 96 F/36 C

Edit: actually, im at 96 F myself

well thats idle. When i play a game or so it can go up to like 115. My friend has a 3.2 and his runs at like 40F

lol what are you worried about... if you're at like 140F obviously there's a problem... iono why your stressing about 36C, that's a great temp for air cooled...
