leaving your computer running to prolong it's life is a myth. while expansion and contraction do cause wear and tear with shutting down/powering up a pc it is nothing compared to the wear and tear of constant operation.

if power is a problem when folding it's better to just not run F@H all the time than to stop.

What ever happened to the good old days where people shut their pc's off for the night?

What ever happened to the good old days where people shut their pc's off for the night?

I still shut my computer off at night, it is better than leaving it on 24/7 due to the fact when you reset, the old prefetch and cache are deleted, thus providing better performance. Plus it only takes about 10 secs for my computer to shutdown or start back up since I modified some registry keys.

i always shut down my pc when it's not being used.
