So after Shumway posted the Pink Floyd case (http://techist.com/showthread.php?s=&postid=455599#post455599) I've decided that I am going to start some case modding like that. I am going to start small, but I'm limited in time that I can do modding (only for the next 2 months or so, I cant mod when I'm at school) so I want some killer ideas. If someone wants to see a mod done but dosent want to do it themself, tell me and I will possibly undertake it. After I get good, I would like to possibly offer some case modding services for people, but I dont know how realistic that would be. All ideas welcome, but preferably ones that wont cost too much, I'm a little po right now.

If only you didn't say that last bit.

I would of loved to see a nice sports car case, with a nitro engine in it, so it could move.

For cheap case mod its always good to see who can go the furthest on making a case out of fans, but done properly with 120mm fans, and the air directed well.

Cheap within reason here, buddy. Lets not let the money factor limit us as to what we can do, I'm just saying for peices and stuff, not too expensive. Yeah, a case with a nitro engine in it? I dont know about that one man. I'm not talking CHEAP CHEAP, I['m jsut talking not expensive. If it is cool, and it cant be cheap, than it cant be cheap, and I will have to figure something out because I will end up having to spend the money.

I want to get to this guys level

How good are you on a dremel?

I quite like this: http://www.mnpctech.com/nitro.html

But instead of painted flames, have them cut out, put some acrylic plastic/any clear plastic over the cut outs, and buy a couple of cold cathodes (red and orange if you can find it) that will be quite good looking.

If you can find it, get that paint that changes colour on how the light reflects it, and spray paint a case in that.

I think just a cool paint job and maybe some interesting custom fan placement. Just start with that sort of thing.

I dig, some good ideas. I've never used a dremel before, but I have a relatively steady hand (sort of, could be steadier, but I will learn) plus I could do it little by little (a bit time consuming) as to not make mistakes. I am considering ordering a Dremel right now, and waiting until next week and ordering my Maze4 GPU waterblock, or vice versa. Not sure yet.

I like the flames idea, be a good head start into the case cutting portion. It would be like your first basic cut, kind of like galloping before you run.

As for painting, I have to get REALLY good at that. My parents are very good at drawing, and I'm pretty good at staying in the lines, so I could have one of them draw me up something, I'm lousy at drawing. But I have tog et bettrer, and I will learn.
