You definitely need a SSD!!! While you'll hear a lot of people saying it's not worth it, don't believe them. Try one and you'll be a believer

It's surprising how much difference ACHI and a modern chipset can make.

Agreed. My SSD is the most noticeable upgrade I have made to my system. A couple of weeks ago I had to temporarily use a mechanical drive for my os and it was unbelievably slow.
