Re: TF Official AS SSD/HDD Benchmark Thread

Interestingly, I googled up on it to read more
I found this article, which said windows defrag should be disabled by default on devices declaring themselves as SSD.
However, on my OCZ Agility, defrag was enabled by default.
just a heads up for everyone to double check

Just download the SSD Tweaker, run it, select <Auto Tweak Settings>, select <Save and Exit>. Reboot.

Re: TF Official AS SSD/HDD Benchmark Thread

I would have both an SCSI and an SAS score but both servers are running SUSE...

EDIT: oh, and Puddle Jumper, just collate the scores as you want them to appear in the OP and make a new post. I'll copy and paste those scores over the ones already in there and delete the post.

Thanks kmote.

It's unfortunate that most benchmarks aren't cross platform, it would be interesting to see how those SCSI and SAS drives stacked up.

Re: TF Official AS SSD/HDD Benchmark Thread

You have Windows 7 and a New SSD, How do you know if TRIM is working?

Go to the Command Prompt and type:

fsutil behavior query disabledeletenotify
<Enter>

DisableDeleteNotify = 1 (Windows TRIM commands are disabled)
DisableDeleteNotify = 0 (Windows TRIM commands are enabled)

How do I Enable TRIM?

Go to the Command Prompt and type:

fsutil behavior set disabledeletenotify 0
<Enter>

How do I Disable TRIM?

Go to the Command Prompt and type:

fsutil behavior set disabledeletenotify 1
<Enter>
The problem is that this just tells you if Windows has it enabled or not. It doesn't actually tell you if the drive is taking the TRIM commands. If you had an SSD without TRIM support and ran the above it would still show up as enabled, but the drive wouldn't actually be using it. AFAIK there's no sure way to tell if a drive is operating with TRIM. We can just assume it's working with disabledeletenotify 0 with a TRIM capable firmware.

Though i'd add this in for kicks. My monster caviar blue IDE got a whopping 11

Is anyone ever going to update the scores in the OP?

Sorry about the delay, I've been really busy the last few days.

Edit: Kmote, Here is a up to date list of the scores if you wouldn't mind adding it. Also could you please change the color for the SSD example score in the op?
