My Packard Bell 5.1 system cost around £250 ($300+) excluding sound card. It is optical and it sounds great.

Altec Lancing make very good speakers but those are sort of entry level for them... probably still very good though (Im talking about the first picture).

These are my speakers... they also come with a little wired remote (not pictured).

I highly recommend Altec Lancing 621... I am VERY VERY happy with them and I think you would be to.

yah since im in singapore, and creative has its hq here... hmm i can get greate prices for sound systems when they haf their warehouse sale which happens a few times every year, yeah!
