Screen Sticking problem (please help this REALLY is driveing me nuts)

the two potential issues i would look out if you can rule out spyware/virii etc are overheating and memory. do you notice any spike in HDD activity around the time of the lag?

check your graphics card driver. Even though it may be up to date, it could still have a bug. Try updating the game too. I'd also check the temp in the case when you're playing it could be a cooling issue.

Just to let you guys know it was a heating problem due to haveing a bog standard p4 heatsink and fan the processor would get to hot and the fan would kick in this would make the screen stick for a split second once it cooled down it turned off and that made it stick again THEN
when it got to hot again it would repeat wich was a vicious circle lol

fixed problem by buying an arctic cooling freezer 7 pro heatsink and fan changed thermal compound to arctic coolings best they make
also set the fan to its maximum setting and on constantly
