Scratches on CPU (when lapping)

I was doing 600, 800 1,000 grit and is it alright if there are scratches on the cpu?

There will be small scratches, that is what the sandpaper is doing. It's slowly scratching the surfaces high spots removing them. If you'll continue lapping with 1500 and 2000 grit the scratches will continue to get smaller and smaller.
