I need to add a fan to a 6600GT also.
Do I have to squeeze these two things with plyers to get the fan loose and then pull the card off?

Will the card have any problem w/o the 3 pin plugged in. (BIOS or something)?
Thanks

yes you pinch those together and push them through the hole, it was freakin hard on my 9800pro i broke my first one lol, then i carefully did it on my second card and it was ALRIGHT

You broke the board or the things that hold the heatsink on?
What did you use to get it off the second time?

You can TRY. But good luck.
I found that it was just better for me the cut them instead.

i dunno what happened but something got damaged during that time, i used pliers lol. and i used pliers the second time too

I used my fingers on my x700... They're the same identical little plastic brads. It must be luck of the draw or something, because mine was super-easy to get off. Little/no effort was involved. I had a heck of a time pulling a P4 heatsink mount of a motherboard, so I know what you're all talking about.
