well i put an old fx 5200 in the 6600 gt's spot and it fired right up. 6600gt must be shot. i guess i need another card which i can't afford. my 15yr. old son is going through withdrawls on world of warcraft. i think he used to play warcraft with the 5200 so i guess he'll have to live with the downgrade for awhile. he plays wow now on the net and all with his friends and it seems to be more taxing on the card.i know this is general and thre are variables, but what's the average life expextancy of a 6600gt with average gaming. i'm thinking the stock fan could have been gone for a week or 2 and temps weren't checked. he told me the game was freezing so i checked the card and the fan wasn't spinning. thats when i got the zalman but i think it was too late. any good cards in the 100.00 plus a little range. i have the mighty zalman with no home.
