raw image processing: why is my laptop kicking my desktops butt?

is that AMD running at 1.8ghz? thats what it says under "core speed". although i dont know if that is EACH core or what...
it may be a little slower, but it shouldnt be TWICE as slow.

looks like you have cool and quiet turned off, turn that crap off in bios.

For the record - I ended up getting much faster and consistent results by turning the desktops power plan to "high performance", which from my understanding would disable CNQ. The amd desktop now runs about equal to the intel laptop
