Well I think that I have finally raked enough cash together to buy my new computer and I have a couple questions. I do plan on overclocking so which ram and cpu will be the best, while spending the least.

Ram:

Will I really be able to notice that much of a difference with the different timings?

CPU

Since I will be overclocking should I be able to get almost the same results with the 3000 as the 3200? I am trying to save as much money as I can so I could put it towards something else.
Thank you in advance.

On a tight budget check out these chips:

They use the new BH-5 chips and OC pretty damn well. Don't be afraid to put some volts through them to really make them sing. Make sure if you look at these the "GH" in the product number. BTW these chips supposedly also use Brain Power PCB :D

If you want to spend the money any of those TCCD chips you listed would be good.

The 3000+ wouldn't be bad if your OC'ing. There is a decent chance both the 3000 and 3200 could max at the same OC...

So those chips will be able to overclock well and not hold back the cpu? Thanks for the help.

BH-5's aren't new chips...they are pretty old and came well before the TCCD's unless you are just meaning that it's a 'newer batch' of them....the PCB looks like brainpower PCB, but I can't tell from that side...if it was flipped around I'd be able to find the little gold serial number stamped on the corner but I believe it's on the other side.

rcr - those will OC well only when you give them enough voltage...as in 3.3-3.6v for really high OC's and you will need a fan for anything over 3v...just a fan blowing on them is sufficient

These are what the are calling the winbond UTT, which is described over at XS as UnTesTed BH-5, a new version of the BH-5 chip.

Your right that that are very volt hungry, probably a good 3.4 at least to get them to their potential.

yeah I'm aware of the UTT's, but I was just confused as to the way you worded it....I thought you were saying that the BH-5 chips themselves were new, but yeah I got ya now.

Alright so if I will be able to get a good overclock, and good preformance out of them, it would sure be nice to save the money. So I think that I will go with the ram idiotec mentioned and the 3000+. Does that sound good?

yeah....the later weeks on the venices don't necessarily OC the same as the earlier ones though..

Mine is a week 18 3200+ venice and I think it's maxing out at around 2.575GHz...however this board is really flakey, so perhaps if I wind up selling this 6800GT to a friend of mine that's looking to get it, I can just cut my losses and get an Ultra-D and perhaps see if it OC's better...

but yeah my point being the week 18's and up are not as good of overclockers in most cases (I say most because you could get lucky) as the week 17's and earlier...

but all around it's a good combo that I'd get myself

You might want to think about putting the extra cash towards the 3200 over the 3000. The only thing you really get is the extra multi (10 rather than 9), but it might help. Let's say the chip max's at round 2.6 like Nubius'. Well, I could see those UTT's maxing at round 250-260, so at that, you could get a nice combo at 1:1.

Just something to think about....

Edit: Just saw your new build, looks good ;) still might want to consider ^ for reasons stated...
