RAID vs Raptor?

I've seen benchies which show them kinda close to the Raptor (not in access time though)
 
Extra load on the IDE controller I doubt would happen. But the drives we're discussing are SATA, not IDE.
 
sorry i ment sata controller but yeh .. how come it wouldnt put more strain on it? the information has to be split isn't the controller doing that?
