Default quick question (seems easy to me).....

You buy a PC with a 2 GHz processor and a 60-ns memory. How many processor cycles does it take to access the memory in such a system?

Is this as easy as i think it is? All i did was multiply 2 by 60 to get 120 cycles. Is that correct, or am i missing something?

Also, this is just a general question:

A computer system with 2 GHz processor always executes all programs faster than a computer system with 1 GHz processor. Is this true or false?

I am thinking this is false, am i correct in saying this?

Thanks for any help or confirmation!

Well clock cycles mean virtually nothing by todays standards...it's all about instructions per cycle...this is easily demonstrated by comparing Intel and AMD...AMD does more instructions per cycle so a 2GHz AMD is infact faster than a 3GHz Intel

It's honestly very confusing...I don't even really understand it entirely yet...as for your first question I have no idea...I don't really think about it since even if your equation was correct, think about it, 1MHz is equal to 1,000,000 cycles per second, 120 cycles would be undetectable to a human
