I have an old computer that i bought for 100 bucks. It has a 3 year old 230watt power supply . Im getting an athlon 2100, a new mobo (not sure what yet), a few fans, and some memory. I was just wondering, since i dont wanna put too much money into this computer, if i need a new power supply? I was thinking that i did since its only 230 watts and three years old but since im trying to do this as cheaply as possible, i figured id ask. As usual, any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

well, you can get a new power supply for only 20-30 bucks... BUT I totally understand about the money issue.

My thoughts are:
1) 230 PS is pretty low
2) 300 seems a minimum
3) maybe you can use the existing 230 IF your not planning on using to much hardware equipment

Good Luck

what is your current motherboard and CPU type in it now?
ive got an Antec SL400 PS looking for a home :)
Id go with at least a quality 350 watt PS or higher .If you plan on adding new HD down the road you`ll wish you had .
