When i overclock my pentium d 940 to 3.6 ghz it becomes so unstable that it usually freezes when it is loading the desktop. So i raised the voltage from 1.4 to 1.5V. This worked better. I could play songs and stuff, but it would freeze when i loaded up cs 1.6. So right now i have it at 3.5 Ghz. Should i increase the voltage anymore? Or would that make it unsafe?

If it's stable at 3.5GHz with that voltage, and the temperatures are safe, there is no reason to raise the voltage. Unless you want 3.6GHz stable. But in my opinion, an extra 100MHz won't make a difference.

3.5ghz should be fine. Just keep your cpu temperatures within spec. Check to see if it isn't your ram.

nvr mind, 3.5 ghz wasnt stable, i thought it was, but it crashed, and even 3.4 ghz crashed. Is there something im doing wrong.

It probably needs more voltage on the vcore. But you're already at 1.5v. How are your load temperatures?

at 3.5Ghz my load temperatures were only around 45 C
Do you have to change the speeds of your memory when you change the speeds of your processor?

I would say, yes. Try to keep the RAM and FSB speed, at a 1:1 ratio.

45C for load isn't that bad. Maybe upping the vcore just the tiniest bit, would help.
