Default Processor?

How good is the AMD Athlon 64 3500+?

All I plan on using my computer for is music, burning dvds, playing dvds, internet, and computer games like MOH series, Warcraft series, and World of Warcraft.

excellant. better than a 3.4ghz p4EE on gaming, for a fraction of the price.

If you can I'd suggest you get this one:

It's about $65 more expensive, and it's the same chip, but the reason it's more expensive is because it's smaller technology and a different architecture.

The one you are getting is .13u or 130nm, whereas the one I linked is .09u or 90nm

The smaller one is the Winchester core whereas the one you linked is newcastle.

The main difference is the fact that the Winchester requires less voltage and with smaller transistors this means less heat.

Overall that concludes into meaning you'd have headroom to overclock better, but if that's not a big deal to you then it really doesn't matter and the .13u will suffice you perfectly.

In terms of gaming, yes the 3500+ will perform better than the 3.4EE, as shown below.

However, in overall performamce, the 3.4EE wins by a small fraction.

Intel C2D E6320 / AMD Athlon X2 3800+
Gigabyte 965P DS3 / DFI nF4 Ultra-D
2GB OCZ Gold PC2-6400 / 2GB OCZ Gold PC4000
eVGA 8800GTS 320MB / eVGA 6800GS 256MB
150GB Raptor / 74GB Raptor
2x500GB / 320GB
OCZ GameXStreme 850w / OCZ StealthXStream 600w
