Default Problem with graphics card?

hey my friend has been having problems playing city of villains ever sicnce he got his 6800 gs. he had to get his other one RMAed due to a his motherboard sockets being fried. he got a new mobo and ram also. he has a p4 520 with 1 gig ddr2 sticks. basiaclly, the problem is that when he is starting the game the screen flickers as if it is changing resolutions then it just crashes his whole comp and he has to hard shutdown. he also tried an old ati card he had and it works up to when he is loading the map but bugs out real quick with a sound loop. maybe its just because the card is old with old drivers. he has the same cpu as when he fried the vid card slots soo maybe he semi fried the cpu...dont know. he is gonna RMA the card AGAIN and see if it helps.
