Hey Everyone,

I recently bought a computer off a mate of mine

P4 3.06
1 Gig Ram
256 Fx5600
Noisetaker 420w PowerSupply

Now ive been having some overheating issues and have sorted out the most of them but for some reason the powersupply fans wont turn on, I have no idea what could be stoping it. but I think this is why the computer is over heating.

If anyone could shead some light on this that would be great

Thanks
Grant

With the power supply OFF and unplugged, stick a pencil (or whatever will fit) into the fan grill and see if you can spin the fan. If it is very stiff or does not move at all, then you need to either replace the fan, or replace the power supply.

To replace the fan, you'll need to take the cover off the PSU (which voids the warranty). The fan will be connected one of two ways: either soldered directly to the PCB, or have a 2 or 3 pin connector. Remember that a power supply can hold a dangerous charge inside for a long time, even if unplugged.

they spin freely, It was working once yesterday but when I turned the pc off it never returned on again. strange...
