Heres the deal:
I have a GeForce4 grafix card and am trying to upgrade to a 5700LE or a 5900XT. The power supply requirements are 250W and 300W respectively. My current PS is a 220W.
I called Office Depot and he said that my PS might not be an ATX so I needed to bring the old one in. I figured he was just trying to make a sale, though. Then I talked to Compaq tech people in chat session and after about 30 minutes this dude says that my system board doesn't support a 300w. When I asked him what that meant, he never answered. I figured he was just trying to get rid of me, so I kind of disregarded that statement. Correct me if i'm wrong.
Anyway, i need to know if any of this crap is true or if I can just order an ATX PS. If so any reccomendations for decent quality at a decent price would be greatly appreciated. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
System Specs: Compaq Presario 6000 series
DVD-rom and cd burner
one 80GB hard drive
floppy drive
