Nothing anymore, they have a bad reputation though. Their recent stuff is not bad at all and your benchmarks prove it.

As for the burst speed, did you enable write caching? Is the drive SATA II?

how do you do that?

and yes it is SATA II

Go to the device manager, then your hard drive, then properties....then turn on write caching.

Also, sometimes there's a jumper on the back of your drive limiting it to SATA I (1.5gbps), rather than SATA II (3.0gbps)....if there is you need to just remove it.

i have a problem there, since i only get the round box for "otimise for performance" but i dont get options for the advanced performance or write caching - does that mean theyre automatically enabled? do i need to turn on a different setting as well?

the round box is the one, I think the other 2 options are only on vista (I'm running Server 2008)

^what are you running with mate?

That burst speed is **** well high... the read is high too but not as much as a difference as the burst. The random access is a little slow though...with my 500gb 7200.11 i get 12.7...the scis drive i have get like 4.
