Fans and Heat sinks and Power supplies sometimes come bulk w/ cases and stuff. I just got a case; it came w/ a power supply. In the CPU/Mobo combos, fans come w/ "free". Assuming that he bought boxed stuff, screws and stuff would come w/. That would explain partly why his cost is so high; boxed parts are more expensive. But that's only part of it. It doesn't explain how it ended up costing so much.

I would go with a different LCD, if thats what you want. A Viewsonic would work good. CRT are really good too.

All of your prices seem on the high side. You could get that same comp for $200 or $250 less.

Everyone gets their gear from Newegg.com. If you want a well rounded computer, then spending 1000+ would work great.

My monitor is a 21ich viewsonic CRT, its 425 at Newegg, worth around 550$. Its made just for graphics. I dont have it yet, im ordering it in a week or 2.
