PS3 is a DirectX 9c instruction, previous versions of DX(aka b) do not support this instruction, and thus, if your card does not support PS3, it will revert to DirectX9b, not DX8 or whatever other myth.

It will only revert to DirectX9b if the games have DX9b instruction. Recently, games have only been comming out with DX8 and DX9c instructions, and have not included DX9b, so it DOES revert to DX8 if SM3 is not found.

I don't see how graphics can get any better than BF2 and such. Pretty soon the characters are actually going to come out of the screen and pull you in.

Example:

Half-Life 6----

Recommended Requirements:

AMD Athlon 128-bit Socket 1056 8000+ Venice
8GB PC10000 RAM
Nvidia 28000GT 2048MB GDDR10 PCI-E 50x
1000GB Free HD Space

Hey, it could happen :p

lmao... i could see how it could require that stuff... i work with CG and it takes my PC to 1minute to render a bottle of perfume at 1280x1024... if you look closely, the characters are very limited in polygons, and most of the detail is in textures... we need to get "real time performace" for things like reflections, refractions, and all that kinds of stuff, right now, we're at 0.1 FPS... and we're moving foward! ;)
