Default PCI-E bus

What advantages come from overclocking the PCI-E bus? I ran NVIDIA nTune just cuz i was bored and i thought i would see if it did anything nice and it overclocked my PCI-E bus from 2500 to 3750. That looks pretty sweet but I don't know what that actually does. Anyone know?

I would like to know this, as well. I was told not to really, touch the PCI-e bus.

Yeh i was always warned not too change it... but never really given a good reason.

Im guessing that there is no point because you can just as easily change the core clock. Increasing the PCIe bus would just meant you might get stability issues with the mobo and or card.

I doubt there would be any advantage in overclocking this way, as the full 16x banwidth isnt used yet anyway.

Precisely. It significantly increases strain on the motherboard for a whole 0-0.1% increase in performance.
