Default PC4000/DDR500 > is it worth it?

I am thinking of upgrading to 1gb of ram because i still experience "hiccups" in games!
I'm looking for some sturdy value pc4000 so I can still overclock.

Is it really worth having 250MHz memory with super slow timings?

With timings like 3-4-4-8 -YIKES!

im trying to keep it under $200 so i defenitely cant find OCZ Platinum or 1gb of Winbond Chip Memory:amazed:

No it's not worth it at all, unless you are into HEAVY overclocking. And you could run the timings super loose on this ram too btw, it would need to be run at lower speeds though

I think it is, low timings do very little difference - PC3200 at 2-2-2-5 gets about 4% performance difference over PC3200 at 3-3-3-8

higher frequency RAM is much better than lower latency RAM
Kingmax makes some good PC4000 RAM, which is not too expensive
OCZ is designed for overclocking
G.Skill is the absolute best for overclocking
