Hey Guys,

I was hoping for some advice. I'm building a computer as a grad project, the computer is for my 5 year old daughter. I was originally thinking of using a pink/clear acrylic case so that I could add lights to entice her, and so she could see the components inside. But I've been told that acrylic doesn't handle heat well.

My daughter's only request is that the case have some pink in it. So I thought another idea would be to get an aluminum case with an acrylic window. If I paint an aluminum case, will it still distribute heat well, would the coat of paint interfere with that? Has anyone heard of acrylic cases melting?

Meh?

I can't see the computer generating enough heat to melt acrylic unless you have absolutely no air circulation

I personally prefer aluminum though as it is more durable and I need a good case that I can drill and mod. You can paint them though with no loss with heat dissipation
