Default overclocks for diff. games

I have been reading that different overclocks can be achieved for different games. I mainly want to play half life 2 with an overclocked graphics card, but i hear you can only obtain low overclocks before hl2 artifacts, is this true?

A video card has two distinct settings, 2D and 3D. The 2D clocks are used when the video card is idling or not being used, therefore the clock speed is lowered to conserve energy and reduce heat output. When you start playing a game or using a graphically intensive program, the core will increase to 3D speeds.

You can't set different clock speeds for different games, your core has an idle speed and a load speed

why would you want to play with your gfx OC'd

if you have a ****ty card, it'll still be ****ty

if you have a good card, you barely gain enough FPS to make your experience any better

I don\'t play for fun, I play to win and winning is fun.
