Default overclocking pciexpress

in some utilities like nvidia ntune, it give options to overclock the pci express speed from like 1500-2500 Mhz, does anyone know what this controls and if it can be used effectively?

If that's the PCIe clock, I've heard that you shouldn't touch this, unless you know what you're doing.

it will only increase bandwith to the PCI-E cards, which they don't actually need (even the 8800 Ultra's don't utilise nearly the full PCI-E 16X bandwith). At best, it will give you a 1-2% increase in performance. At worst, you are going to end-up with a dead motherboard, and possibly PCI-E card(s)
