OVERCLOCKING my pny 9600gt

so what i need to know is how to overclock it
what tools do i use and what stress test do i do

I tried it and I just couyld not get it to work
kept freezing up in crysis
but it had no effect on the fps during gameplay when i had it up

but i just want to get it to work and play crysis on high setting
currently getting about 20fps, i need like 24-30

anyhelp

A small overclock isn't going to boost you 5-10FPS..

More like 1 to 2 at the most... try RivaTuner and make sure you up the fan speed when you do..

Give up on running on high settings for that game or GTA IV for that matter! Put a couple of things on Medium

i know it seems stupid but i just want to use this card to its advantage

what bout a stress test

Well can get ATITool (which works with nVIdia cards), and use the Artifact Scanner or run through the GTA IV game or Crysis Benchmark (Google it)

732mhz gpu clock
1040mhz memory
shader is at 1830mhz

not bad for a card that gets up to 80c on air
this card gets real hot when i did some stress tests but when i play crysis its fine never goes over 77C

im almost hitting the red zone

playing crysis on high now, just about every setting on the highest exept water, shadows, sound, and small stuff.

didnt know this could happen with a card I bought of ebay for $50

Anyways, SLI isn't worth the hassle just to max out crysis, but if you really want to, feel free

9600 GT SLI is outperformed by 8800 GT's in SLI by about 10~15%. It should be able to max out any game on a 22" monitor. While attaining decent fps on a 24" monitor.

or do they have to be the exact same thing

and yeah somehow i see these video cards go cheap on ebay, ive seen this same card for 20 bucks but noone bid on it, and i was too late

it always confuses me about how many diff. companies thgere are
I mean I guiess they use a single gpu style and make diff boards and cooling
i dont know
