There have been higher frequencies, but, it isn't just frequency alone that helps.

I just thought it was neat that it could be done with liquid nitrogen.... before you know it, liquid N will be the norm

Now the 8Ghz, that is a new one, jesus friggen christ..... Is that a new world record? Last I could remember was ~7.0Ghz.

Hate to be the fly in the ointment here... But is there a video with that? Any Joe Schmo can copy and paste into a CPU-Z screen and post it on a blog.

it wasn't just a random post someone made, at the time it was considered a historical achievement, and made the tech news front pages.

i tried to find it in the cpu-z database, but they only have current records listed. this isn't the same one, but it's from the same team, team italy, using the same cpu which reached even higher clocks.
