Default overclocking a 988 extreme

I was Looking into getting a i7 988 extreme edition CPU, using a water cooled system, and was wondering how much more of a improvement i can get from over clocking it, i know this probaly depends on what MB , but i was jsut wondering whats the best so results so far

Depending upon the cooling system used 4GHz-5GHz is possible. You mention a water cooled system but no specifics, a cheap pre-built kit isn't much better than stock. A Corsair H70 will get you in the 4GHz range but so will a good air-cooler. A custom water-cooling loop will get you in the mid 4GHz+ range, the more you spend the better your chances are of getting close to 5GHz.
