I would do exactly as Inaris said, only i cant install the bloody NIC drivers on my Linux box.

How would you make a computer into a webserver? Could somebody give me a handle on this?

I'd love to have some sort of online database for pictures/files/etc and I am buying a new comp in a few months.

if you have win2k or winxp pro or any other windows server OS you can use IIS internet information services, an http server. IIS is a windows component that must be installed manually through windows add/ remove windows component.

if you want FTP server use bulletFTP or as MinDFreeZ suggested http://www.guildftpd.com/. if you do not have the OS's listed www.download.com has some free simple web servers you can use. there is a small learning curve in order to set these up.

if you have broadband you should learn to foward ports on a router and firewall. plus you may need to know how to use a DNS updater and DNS service for dynamic IPs.

Inaris, THE MAN WITH THE MASTER PLAN

I do like Inaris idea, but it will be uncharted territory for me on how to go about it, I currently have a Norton firewall on my main PC, but as far as linking through a webserver with a firewall on it, is new to me, If anyone could point in the right direction on this subject, ie; websites, books??, it would be greatful. Thank you in advance for your help and thanks for all of the suggestions.
