Re: The Tech Forums Official 3DMark06/03 Top List

Doesn't even seem possible anymore lol. Unless Deneb scores as high as Core i7's in 3DMARK and I m doubting that will happen.

Operation 15K+!!??

Re: The Tech Forums Official 3DMark06/03 Top List

20K "might" be possible with a single vmodded 4870 if the Deneb performs better clock for clock than Yorkfield AND clocks better. Both of which I doubt...

Here's a bench I did when I had my Q9650 @ 4.2ghz....I should have scored another 200-300 cpu pts I think, but even Server 08 does not compare with XP performance. I think I'm going to have to install an XP OS on another drive for benches.

ORB - Compare

As you can see, it's only just over 18000....this was with the 4850 @ 880/1150.

Another 2k is going to be difficult....i7 can probably do it with a vmodded 4870 but I have not seen anything indicating that Deneb performs close to i7. We shall see.

Crossfire is another story. I could have easily scored over 20k even with 4830s

Re: The Tech Forums Official 3DMark06/03 Top List

hehe yeah, pencil modded and underwater. How else do you expect me to go from 625mhz to 880 :p ..I can do 925/1200 with some more voltage but re-applying the pencil is a pain.

Re: The Tech Forums Official 3DMark06/03 Top List

880mhz.. u bet it was modded!

i was almost convinced to play with my gtx260 bios to up the volts.. but read it was pointless.. and sometimes caused worse clocked

Re: The Tech Forums Official 3DMark06/03 Top List

Yeah from what I've read the GT200 cards do not really respond well to more voltage. They still seem to get some pretty respectable clocks with just good cooling though.

Overclocking:

Overclocked Settings:

* MSI R4830 710/1075

I was really impressed by the overclockability of MSI's 4830. In the end I was able to get a nearly 25% overclock on the RV770 core and a 20% overclock on the GDDR3 memory. The R4830 clocks in this review were initially adjusted using CCC and then AMD GPU Clock Tool. To reach my final overclock speeds I began by increasing the core and memory clocks in 25MHz increments until I hit 710/1025. Any speed above 710MHz on the core created instability. However, the memory didn't stop at 1025MHz. I was able to get the memory up to 1075MHz before hitting any instability. As you can see in the screen shot of CCC, even with such a heavy overclock the R4830 still idled at 37 degrees.

Re: The Tech Forums Official 3DMark06/03 Top List

nice OC they got on that card... 4830s tend to OC pretty well (usually better than 4850s) on stock cooling cuz they got a bunch of shaders cut out so they run alot cooler... i wonder if thats with the fan pumped up... if not, you can probably push out 730+ on the core if you up the voltage and the fan to keep it cool

Re: The Tech Forums Official 3DMark06/03 Top List

man, i needa hurry up and reformat and achieve 26k.. i know i can do it, i just got some other user settings with my mobo and i'm up for the challenge of 4.0ghz air and 3dmark06
