oooh interesting. yet intel still offers one platform for either nvidia or ati where as with amd you have to pick between an amd chipset or nvidia, alltho nvidia chipsets have never really been bad on the amd platform.
 
Yeah thats the issue im running into, i will be getting a 940 along with a 790GX board but wont be able to SLI, only xfire.

So im pretty much stuck with getting a single GTX 260 for gaming. Guess i could grab a GTX 350 when it comes out.

oooooh no only a single gtx 260 lol. didnt nvidia release a 7 series chipset for am2+???
 
nos looks like you may have to change your plans, apparently the new phenoms are performing clock for clock with i7 and the cold bug issue is gone.

The phenoms may be clocking high but everything I have seen has said the clock for clock performance is still behind nehalem.
 
where do you see it performing clock for clock... from my searching at xs.. i've been seeing performancing parring penryn...

Charles its 100% true, whether you like it or not AMD is matching i7 for clock speed...not sure on what performance is like that these clocks though but if clock speed is your thing Intel has a problem for sure.
