oooh interesting. yet intel still offers one platform for either nvidia or ati where as with amd you have to pick between an amd chipset or nvidia, alltho nvidia chipsets have never really been bad on the amd platform.

Yeah thats the issue im running into, i will be getting a 940 along with a 790GX board but wont be able to SLI, only xfire.

So im pretty much stuck with getting a single GTX 260 for gaming. Guess i could grab a GTX 350 when it comes out.

Thing is the best chipset for clocking the phenom II's is the 790GX/Sb750 platform.

I want 4ghz!!

yea that i know. so get an msi board have 2 hd 4870s for xfire and 2 gtx260's for folding or just slap your 8800 gt's into it for folding its preaty easy with 4 pci-e slots. Newegg.ca - MSI K9A2 Platinum AM2+/AM2 AMD 790FX ATX AMD Motherboard - AMD Motherboards not sure if it has the sb750 tho.

where do you see it performing clock for clock... from my searching at xs.. i've been seeing performancing parring penryn...

nos looks like you may have to change your plans, apparently the new phenoms are performing clock for clock with i7 and the cold bug issue is gone.

The phenoms may be clocking high but everything I have seen has said the clock for clock performance is still behind nehalem.

That pretty much confirmed my previous statement. Clocking high has nothing to do with clock for clock performance.
