OC'ing Value Ram

I have 2 Corsair ValueSelect 512mb memory modules in dual channel with Vantec copper heatspreaders. Would it be safe to overclock these to the spead of Corsair XMS low latency ram (2-2-2-5)? I'm under the impression that the only differences between ValueSelect and XMS ram are the heat spreaders and the default latency settings.

wut are u trying to change the actual speed (mhz) or the latency? cuz it sounds like u jus wanna change ur ram to 2-2-2-5 and thas not the speed

also ram comes in many diff speeds the low lat ram does not run at one particular speed

I changed the latency of my k-byte ram( cheap stuff) from 2.5 to 2( i don't have the ablity to change all 4, at least i don't think so) i've had no problems with it. and since it is corsair, i bet it would be ok. but maybe a moderator has some input.
