OMG!! I bought geil value ram (cheap as chips) and i've got it to ddr490 with 3-3-3-6 timings at a mear 2.95vdimm which if i trust the geil site over newegg (i origionally went by newegg who say 2.85) is the top of their recomended.

Im blown away by that how does cheap ram oc that well !!!!

But yeah I've heard geil has some good chips. Wonder what kind of IC's and PCB it has.

The more and more I hear about this stuff, the more I am led to believe performance RAM is just a gimic.

simply depends on the brands. Some RAM like kingston valueRAM isnt going to hit above 210-215 while Geil may use Samsung TCCD chips on brainpower PCB even for their value which would make it easily OC'able.

If you can find valueRAM that has those TCCDs or brainpower PCB you can save money and still get OC'ing RAM.
