XP supports up to 4GB. if it's not reading 4GB, then it's probabbly your motherboard.

but either way, I wouldn't use more than 2GB for now unless you are running a very demanding server or something.

1GB will probabbly be fastest for most things, except for games such as BF2

Thx alot folks i do appreciate all the info..I have taken out out 2 gigs of ram and even regular programs seem to run better. thx again

Why does everyone change something on me?? Last I heard XP pro supports either 2 or 3 gb and to get higher you had to some how modify it or get some kind of update....

it is a 32-bit OS
2 ^ 32 = 4294967296 bytes (or 4GB)
